from 215 reviewsGreat product with great customer service, great people.
the Mowrator is great. It goes into deep brush so that I don’t have to. I live on a mountain and it’s able to climb almost my entire lawn. There are places that are about 75-80 degree slopes and it just doesn’t quite make it up. The person who cut it before had to use a weed water. That’s probably what I will end up doing. The Mowrator should be called The Beast!
Our ride-on mower was almost 20 years old, got stuck in low places, couldn't always get up hills, certainly couldn't get under trees or around tight turns. On top of that, we allow areas of grass to get quite tall several times a year to support wildlife (food, habitat, etc.) The ride-on mower had trouble with that, too. None of it has bothered the Mowrator. I do weed-eat anything that is above 2 ft tall before mowing, and I weed eat one area near a culvert that has a sharp drop to a short, steep run - the Mowrator tips over if I try to cut there - but I can't walk that either.
The Mowrator hasn't gotten stuck in wet areas, though sometimes the tires do dig a divot when turning. I imagine if I refine my operating technique I could minimize this.
Grip holders work great.
I live in the mountains of North Carolina and work this machine hard.
The toggle controls on the remote could use a removable/replaceable soft rubber cap,
holding the forward and reverse toggle for 2+ hours is hard on the thumb
In a good way... used the original one for 2 seasons, changed up to the muting blade and it really lifts leaves much easier... recommended purchase !.. before this I didn't use the collector.. with this I can use it as a leaf vac...
I hate mowing my lawn. But the Mowrator has changed that for me. Now I actually look forward to driving this thing around. It is like an adult toy, but not that kind. Everybody who sees me using it has to stop and stare for a minute. I own a 2-acre lot, so mowing is a huge chore. But with this thing, I can really take my time with it. I do roughly 30 minutes of mowing about 3 times a week. And it hardly feels like work. I have already named it Grasshopper after a character from the Twisted Metal series. I am one drunken night away from decorating my Mowrator by slapping some googly eyes on it and some fake plastic machine guns/rocket launchers. The only way they can improve upon its current design is to simply beef up everything. Make it bigger so it cuts more in one pass. Make it move faster so we can finish earlier. That is about it. Overall, it is a good design and built like a tank.
I have used my Mowrator three time since purchase. The Mowrator has handled all my jobs with relative ease. The terrain was rough and hilly - no problems there. I have a few more places (a dwarf fruit tree orchard on a hillside) and the hillside next to a pond. It took everything else with ease, should do well on these. I'd buy one again.
You know what's really cool.. I can sit in my air conditioned house on my sofa and mow my lawn.. The clarity is A+ No delay no skip in video or dead zone... Its fish eyed lens so you get a nice wide angled view.. This should be a mandatory part. I'm really shocked how good this really is.
I found that the video option works very good to get viewing of extended mower travel.
The viewer/video receiver that attaches to the R/C controller adds some weight so I may have come up with a holder/portable table of some sort because it normally takes me 1-2hrs to cut the lawns and the controller becomes heavy to hold.
after I became diabled the Mowrator has help me regain my independence to yard work
Cuts all my hard to reach grass. A different blade setup with that will protect motor assembly in case you hit hidden objects. Ex. Head with trimmer line or a small blade with pivoting blades that can retract when an object hit them. I'm using tube brackets to attach stuff to its frame. Currently towing a wheeled commercial leaf blower behind it. Many more DIY attachments to come. I'm thinking about making some tracks that mount over the tires for winter. Also going to make an adapter to switch tires quickly, eliminating the need remove 24 screws that will quickly strip. Contact me if your looking for additional ideas to sell with it. My background is a design/engineer at General Motors
If you have a hill in your yard that makes a rider not an option and your getting to old to push it this is the answer.
Mowrater AWD is probably the most fun I have ever had with yard work, but its also super fun period. It has had zero problem with the slopes, and tall dead grass I have thrown at it this season. My parents in their 60's have used it and love it as well. The battery 18 size battery gives me plenty of time to get the job done, and go in and take a break, buy the time the battery is dead I am ready to be done anyways. I have about 15 acres of this tall grass, and have been working through it piece by piece. Worth every penny!
Attached the hitch to my mower and used it to pull my yard cart. really worked well and I don't have to get my tractor out.
